Kris Van Assche Rope Cardigan

By now, you know that we’re pretty big fans of Kris Van Assche.  We’ve brought you several posts on his sneaker designs, as well as a few other things, but not as much on his own ready-to-wear clothing.  The Dior Homme creative director’s stated aim for his own line is to create “a distinctive, refined world of nonchalant elegance”, and we feel this rope fastened cardigan is a prime example of that idea.  At its core, the cardigan is a standard piece of knitwear, but the distinction comes from the rope detail that loops around the tall ribbed collar.  The long, slim cut and notched collar provide an air of cozy elegance.  It’s a prime example of sportswear with a bit of sophistication, which is what KVA is all about.  Available here.

Blazers have this undeniable air of sophistication about them and when trying to configure an outfit, the right one can make a world of difference. The great thing about this particular one is that it knows no bounds. Whether you’re wearing it to a formal gathering or taking it with you for a night out on the town, you should be comfortable knowing that you’re certain to look your most dapper either way. Standard button fastening along with the typical dual front flap pockets might make one question how or why this blazer’s better than any of the rest, but European labels are always very stringent about quality and with a price tag of about $750, it’s definitely not something that needs to be disputed.
