Like so many other military pieces before and after it, the Bomber Jacket has made its transition into fashion culture rather effortlessly and it’s done so upon the notion that it can withstand the perils of what a colder climate can necessitate. Originally constructed for pilots who needed to ascend into the upper altitudes, the jacket’s thick lining and heavy insulation ensured the pilot’s safety, warmth and well-being. There have been many incarnations of the famed jacket, and they all manage to retain the same general shape and composition with the high wraparound collar being the most prevalent feature. What sets this one apart from all the rest is that Albam‘s version includes an entire charcoal Melton wool makeup, and deep slant pockets. There’s not much more to it than that, but that’s all it needs to be – simple, but perfect enough that it’s able to hold its own against all other of the jacket’s replicas. Available here.
