Back in the day, Footjoy Classics were my jam on the golf course. Before I knew anything about hand craftsmanship, leather soles and welts, I wanted to wear these off the course. Sadly, the Brockton, Massachusetts factory were they were produced closed this Spring. Golf-inspired shoes for off the course aren’t new, but Northhampton’s Crockett & Jones has done it better than we’ve ever seen. Founded in 1879 in the heart of Britain’s shoe making region, Crockett & Jones have specialised in making Goodyear-welted shoes for more than 100 years. Using only the finest calf leathers from the leading tannieries of Europe, Crockett & Jones are individually crafted, designed to produce the best possible fitting characteristics. Each pair takes up to eight weeks to manufacture in a painstaking process which involves over 200 highly skilled operations. Loving the brick sole. Available here.
