SMILE ON YOUR BROTHER ART SHOW

Last Friday night was the official launch party of the Montreal stop on the Smile On Your Brother traveling skate art show. If you’re a regular reader, you know all about Mike Giles and Annie Lam, founders of charitable organization We Are Contributors and the two responsible for putting a variety of artists together for this pan-Canadian art show, featuring old-school skateboards like you’ve never seen them before. Fresh off the launch party for the DC x SixPack Double Label release event earlier on in the week, Angelo (seen above with us and Mike Giles), Harry and the rest of the Off The Hook crew put together a banging party for the show, which was officially part of the Pop Montreal festival.

While we were extremely happy to see our CONTRIBUTE concept-piece get some attention, we were definitely overshadowed by some amazing works of art most notably; Parra doing what he does best, Todd Francis’ Someday this will be yours, Craig Metzger’s Broken Tip deck, Omen’s Skulls, Rita’s Snap Here, Dave Carnie’s Mouse Traps, Aaron Harowitz’ All is OK (3D), Devin Barrette’s Shingles, and pretty much all the others. All these decks are up for auction, with all proceeds going to help give skateboards to underprivileged kids across the country, so be sure to do your part here.

Overall, we had a great time chatting with some great people. Shout out to Angelo, Harry, Vince (who took half of the pics you’ll see after the jump), Andreas (who took the other half through a vintage Zeiss lens), Moto Boy (just in from Sweden and going off to play a show), Oli, Mike (for hooking everyone up with a Furni x Mumble watch), Annie, Kelly (who was on drink duty all night), Simon, J.K., Mangez & Simon, Krista, Kristen, Sarah, Jeremy, and everyone else who showed up to support a great cause.

ALL THE PICS AFTER THE JUMP.
