Two years ago, Los Angeles-based brand Crownfarmer was stocked in lofty boutiques like Colette, but was subsequently forced to go on a self-imposed hiatus to restructure internally. In the meantime, the brand’s founder Bob Kronbauer created the online magazine Club Mumble, featuring contributions from a variety of people tied to both street and contemporary art, as well as skateboarding. Now, Kronbauer has reawakened the Crownfarmer brand, tapping artists from Club Mumble to create unique t-shirt designs. The first is by Todd Bratrud, and carries a heavy resemblance to the Dr. Seuss illustrations that the designer admits are a strong influence. The intent of the revived brand is to reveal a new design weekly at the Crownfarmer website, where they are also available for sale, and to eventually find their way back to the boutiques they once graced.
