Levis Vintage 1955 Sawtooth Denim Shirt

We believe the quote is, “Don’t call it a comeback. I been here for years”, but we still marvel as Levis‘ longevity and relevance, especially after this seasons most talked about collaboration with Robert Geller. But that’s not say Levis can’t stand on their own. Admittedly, it’s been awhile since we’ve considered a denim shirt however we’re thinking that next to plaid, you’ll be hard pressed to find another well suited material for the Fall. We’re liking this classic denim work shirt from Levis in raw indigo denim that comes complete with an original 1950s style wash. Heck, throw a red plaid jacket over top and you’re golden.  Available here.

HACKET LONDON MAYFAIR SCARF

While it’s rare something like a scarf can get us excited, we’re always reminded of their usefulness and worthiness every time we come across one like this one from premier curators of British-style, Hacket. We mean, how ill is that graphic? Hacket has been renowned for “taking its inspiration from the traditions of British dress without being old fashioned and as such, its products are evolutionary rather than revolutionary”; Jeremy Hacket adds, “our clothes wear in not out”. The Hackett Mayfair scarf is a luxury cashmere and silk blend and is woven In Scotland exclusively for Hackett. Get on it quick, this is fire right now. Available here.

Louis Vuitton 2010 City Guides

While we’re more partial to the Lonely Planet Series as we find them more accessible than the Wallpaper City Guides and the Louis Vuitton City Guides, it’s always fun to see the vantage points of select cities as seen by the upper crust. Now entering its 11th year of publication, the Louis Vuitton City Guides for 2010 will continue their theme of providing informed commentaries on fashion, design, gastronomy, hotels, trends, (and even advice) on some of your favorite cities of which, there will be 40 in total. Among the usual suspects, Basel, Deauville, Knokke-le-Zoute, Mykonos, Malaga and Tel Aviv are all new additions that will be included in the 2010 series. Certain elements however, will remain unchanged such as the design of the boxed set, an homage to the heritage of Louis Vuitton and drawing inspiration from a vintage luggage label of the kind bellboys would affix to travellers’ trunks. Available October 15th, 2009.

Woolrich Tailgating Jacket

Woolrich Tailgating JacketAlways on the look out for new pieces for Fall/Winter in our favorite fabric, Woolrich is out with an amazing option for those among us that love to mix classic, outdoor clothing with metropolitan style. For the Tailgating jacket, Woolrich combined the heritage of their red/black plaid Classic Wool Field Coat with updated styling to create a jacket that comfortably and stylishly handles anything the weekend has in store. The hearty wool-blend shell (80% wool/20% nylon) is washable and lined with heavy-duty cotton twill and supremely built for the outdoors with really neat details like an oversized chin-warmer collar with an under-collar tab to keep the collar up, back stowage pocket and inner knit storm cuffs. PREVIEW: Thom Browne | Red/White/Blue Line

THOM BROWNE RED WHITE BLUE

Having long been fans of Thom Browne suits but deterred by the price, we’re enthused to see Men.Style‘s first look at Thom Browne’s first lower-priced collection for Spring 2010. From the upcoming “red/white/blue” line Browne describes as “functional outerwear [that] will really work well within the more-tailored aspects of my collection that I’m known for.” We’re really liking the first piece shown above, a K-Way-inspired jacket, with the colorful trim on a monochromatic shell which we’ve seen before on Italian brand Gold Bunny. Both winners. Expect to pay between 30 to 40 percent less than the main line in early 2010.

Made of Japan

Following up on our earlier hands-on sneak peak of Onitsuka Tiger‘s 60th anniversary magazine, Made of Japan, we can now share more details.

The limited edition magazine, of which 250 boxed editions are available, highlights Onitsuka Tiger’s original sports heritage, vision and evolution, along with its influence as a style icon amongst fashion leaders, athletes and sports fans in Japan, the US and Europe. In Japan, turning 60 is an honor and a time of great celebration and reflection; a time to look back at one’s achievements and plan for the future. Onitsuka Tiger’s founder, the late Kihachiro Onitsuka, was known for his innovative spirit and appreciation for craftsmanship and in honor of these values, Onitsuka Tiger invited like-minded athletes, artists and fashionistas to share their thoughts for Made of Japan. Fusing Japanese heritage with a modern, metropolitan soul, Made of Japan embraces heroes of the past while uncovering tomorrow’s talents and showcases the ever-growing interaction between Japan and the West.

Made of Japan features more than 30 iconic personalities, including artist, Chiharu Shiota, Verbal of the Teriyaki Boyz and former star athletes Dave Cowens and Lasse Virén.

Only 250 boxed editions have been printed. Available exclusively online at Tokyo Art Beat (TAB), starting September 1st, the exact date the company was created, 60 years ago.

Pick your copy up here.

LimitedHype will be hosting the official launch party of Made of Japan and 60th anniversary of Onitsuka Tiger, at Jeff Staple’s Reed Space the night of Tuesday, September 1st, 2009.  There will be a limited supply of the unboxed editions for sale at Reed, as well as a few copies of the boxed edition that we will be giving away exclusively that night. More details to come.

Kolor Double-Breasted Padded Coat

Kolor Double-Breasted Padded Coat

Every time we think Kolor, we think of this lookbook from Spring/Summer ’09 when only a few obscure people knew about them. Designer, Junichi Abe, a previous Comme des Garcons alumni has since grown his independent brand quietly and most recently opened up a flagship store in Tokyo early last month.

Kolor describes “their clothes are the mix of three elements: the texture of the materials, unique cutting, and specific sewing techniques” which is something we definitely notice and love in this navy double-breasted padded coat. The collar and lapels lead into a double-breasted button fastening front with gold buttons with a small anchor in the middle, along with a short belt at the back with anchor button detail. Available here.

Memine High Top Sneakers

While at first glance these MeMine sneakers might have you thinking Lanvin with an upscale leather body and strap, Common Projects would actually be more on the money. Similar to our favorite Italian sneakers, these high tops from MeMine are Italian crafted and leathered. Fortunately, they’re priced slightly under Common Projects basic Achilles. YUKINO × UNITED ARROWS LUGGAGE

In the midst of celebrating their 20th anniversary, Japanese retailer United Arrows have restocked one of their (in our opinion) most iconic leather bags in collaboration with Yukino in mocha and navy. No stranger to collaborations or leather, we most recently fell in love with United Arrows x Beauty&Youth leather chukka in brown. If Beauty&Youth sounds familiar, you’ve no doubt seen their previous work on pieces for Steven Alan and Lacoste on a cardigan. The lightweight, functional leather United Arrows x Yukino luggage pieces are available here.
