Founded in 2003, Oskar Metsavaht’s Osklen has already been hailed as one of the most influential brands in the world. Yet, he continues to find new ways to push the limits of innovative fashion design. Drawing inspiration from Brazilian culture, design and environment, Osklen represents the modern dichotomies we are faced with everyday; the clash between urban and nature, active and comfort, technology and organic. Made predominantly from eco-friendly fabrics like fleece, nylon, wool and eco-leather, the clothing is shaped loose, at times even looking oversized. For the Fall & Winter of 2009, Metsavaht has sought inspiration in different elements of his personal life’s interests, creating an eclectic collection of casual clothing and the accessories to match. He excels when using earthy tones and materials, like the canvas carryall bag and distressed docksiders. Other highlights include the Juoatinga eco velcro sneakers, nylon messenger bag and a sleek black wool jacket among others. The Fall/Winter collection for 2009 can be found at Osklen stores in NYC and around the world.
