You knew it had to be on the way, and our friend Bernard over at Acquire has picked up on it as well. Since we’ve told you about the two hottest trends in the bike world, fixies and folders, Montague has merged the two to create the world’s first Folding singlespeed bike, the Boston. While it doesn’t have the quite as much style and the clean lines of a traditional brakeless bike, the aluminum-framed 700cc singlespeed offers the convenience of being lightweight, sturdy and of course the ability to fold up for storage in your tiny studio apartment. In fact, this is a very effective city-friendly bike; puncture resistant Kenda tires, a 42×16 Suntour crank-set (perfect for urban riding), and a quick tool-free folding system which allows for breakdown in 20 secs. Sure it’s no Trek District, but the Boston is meant to be lugged up a flight of stairs, or shoved in your trunk for taking on vacation. Available in 2010 here.
