Facebook Headquarters

Facebook Offices by Studio OA

With the ongoing success the site is seeing, it is no surprise that Facebook has ‘upgraded’ it’s headquarters in Palo Alto, California this summer. Formerly a lab facility, the massive 150,000 square foot space has been transformed to reflect the company’s core values: creativity, freedom of expression and individuality. The design team at Studio O+A conceived a vibrant, fresh, hip space that is also very green: from restored millwork from the original lab, to high-recycle content carpeting to using repurposed industrial components throughout. The space is very modern and dynamic, just what you’d expect from a company like Facebook. Ironically, employees are even encouraged to write on their walls. More images after the jump.

I thought the Google office was cool but this takes it to a new level!

Also true to their core values, there appears to be very little privacy. :P

  • I want cool space like that. Oh, right, I have a little itty bitty WOM firm…again, another indication that I choose the wrong career.

  • I wonder if the employees revolt every time they change the layout of the office and moan about how it used to be better…

While some of the office is cool, and the green-image is commendable, some of those areas are just ugly/garish (IMO).

But then, I like minimalistic environments for focussing my creativity on whatever I’m working on.

Facebook’s new headquarters is nothing more than a copy-cat interior decorating job. Design firm ‘The Groop’ (http://thegroop.net/) has their headquarters decorated to a tee in the same quirky style, but they did this years ahead of what Studio O+A did for Facebook. The Groop’s creative style was lauded during the Art Walks in downtown LA in 2007 and 2008, prior to their move to a new (and larger) facility which was decorated in the same fashion as their original place … and now Facebook’s new space is a replica of it all.

I mention all this, as I used to work for another design firm affiliated with The Groop – you can’t beat ‘em, folks. I know that much.

We’re all really glad the Facebook employees are so happy and their office is really cool. Now could someone at Facebook PLEASE read the blogs on your site? You have some intensly unhappy users — people who support you and rely upon you regardless of how inane some of the stuff is on Facebook. Regardless, I work for a business that wants to create a Facebook account and NO ONE can find a way to contact you with questions. It’s horrible customer service — arrogant, exclusionary and juvenile — to rely on other Facebook members to answers YOUR questions! Come on…this thing is eventually going to blow up in your face because you clearly don’t give a damn about your customers. It’s like giving a toddler a set of keys to play with and honestly believing that’s enough to keep them entertained. You have a responsibility to your users…no please do the adult, good business thing and give us a Contact Us email and someone on the other end to answer our questions! Thank you.

I am wondering if you have funds to give back to the community. I am in need of a service dog and I need to raise $8000 for this. I am on disability and have no way to pay for it. Is there any way you can help with this? I already bought the dog andnow need the training.
Anything you could do for mwould be SO appreciated.
    Thanks, Stacey Hill
