The team and I at LimitedHype have the rare exception of playing with and testing some of those items everyone loves, but don’t always have the justification of owning themselves. B&W of England have been producing incredible speakers for audiophiles since 1966 and their iPod system named the Zeppelin happens to be in this category.
This isn’t a particularly expensive system, but considering it’s likely more than what you spent on your iPhone or iPod, it seems too excessive for the use. B&W have created a system though which caters to most iPhone/iPod users, people who already have large home theatre setups and need a separate systems for other areas in their home, but without compromising their music or the abilities of their Apple hardware.
We’ve had the pleasure of using this system in the LimitedHype office for the past 6 months, it’s a small system, but easily fills our loft space with powerful, full spectrum music. It’s design looks great anywhere, against a wall or in the center of the room as there isn’t a bad angle to look at it from, you can even purchase an optional wall mounting bracket to hang it like your flatscreen TV. The remote as well is a thing to behold, almost like a miniature zeppelin, stripped of all extraneous features. The feature that I most appreciate about this system is it’s simplicity, no EQs to adjust, inputs to configure, wires to route, you simply plug in your iPod and use the remote or the ipod itself.
We love this system and though it has been around for awhile now and it is in a field with many competitors, most are newcomers to the audio game. This instead is a company who created the perfect speakers and attached an iPod dock, not the other way around. In comparison to all the other systems we’ve played with and tested, this is in a field all by itself, surely not to be outclassed anytime soon.
