Fay by Giles Deacon peacoat

Renowned British fashion designer Giles Deacon who previously worked at Gucci and Louis Vuitton before starting his own label was recently recruted by Fay (par of Tod’s Group and Hogan) as its chief designer. Deacon’s latest, is his rendition of the classic Peacoat that was originally worn by sailors of European navies and is often referred to as the Jackie O Jacket when worn by women. The sleek and slim peacoat keeps the features from the classic design with a navy blue color, clue, double breasted fonts and broad lapels also features red lining and a zipper on the right. Combining the luxury of a blazer with the strength of a uniform garment the jacket retails for $1,650 and is available exclusively at select Barneys New York stores.

chaise longue

Czech designer René Sulc’s Chaise Longue or long chair for some looks to like it would fit perfectly in a home of the future with its well defined curves and shape.  The space-age chair’s frame is shaped with bent wood covered with polyurethane foam and support comes from stream-lined stainless steel legs. It features an up-tilt end portion that raises the lower half of the body and takes stress off the spine. Available at DasMöbel.

Pyott Design | Linos

LinosAI

This new concept from Charlie Pyott has me fascinated, it’s so simple it begs the question why no one has thought of this before. He has managed to create a record player that is essentially smaller and more portable than the records it plays. It seems to be the perfect solution for those who have records they just can’t part with, people who don’t rely on a record player everyday, but want the ability to play them when the mood strikes. Portable, simple, easy to store, easy to use, great design at it’s finest. Thanks for the tip Gavin.

Chris & Tibor Fall/Winter 2009

Chris & Tibor Fall Winter 2009

Definitely doing up things a little differently, Chris & Tibor are using their past experience at Burberry Prorsum and their London roots to their advantage. Actually, all bags are named after streets, areas or iconic figures in East London and around the city. While mostly known for their successful accessories line, we were first impressed with their Spring/Summer 09 collection, especially with the gold leather Moorgate backpack (even though everybody from Converse to BBC jumped on the chrome dip fad) Chris&Tibor are continuing their quality work with craftsmanship for their Fall/Winter 09 collection with a variety of clever cuts and a strictly blue/black colorway. Even the materials are unique with the likes of Praire, dot and patent leathers, oiled bird feather fabrics, rave hi-fi techno film materials, riri zips and excellent rubber finished belts. Making small, big waves, even Harvey Nichols recently ranked Chris&Tibor in their top 10 for their previous leather/fabric gym bag.

REVIEW: B&W ZEPPELIN

Picture 9

The team and I at LimitedHype have the rare exception of playing with and testing some of those items everyone loves, but don’t always have the justification of owning themselves. B&W of England have been producing incredible speakers for audiophiles since 1966 and their iPod system named the Zeppelin happens to be in this category.

This isn’t a particularly expensive system, but considering it’s likely more than what you spent on your iPhone or iPod, it seems too excessive for the use. B&W have created a system though which caters to most iPhone/iPod users, people who already have large home theatre setups and need a separate systems for other areas in their home, but without compromising their music or the abilities of their Apple hardware.

Bergdorf Goodman Collection Austrian Snow Boot

Bergdorf Goodman Austrian Snow Boot

There’s never been a better time to start shopping for winter boots. Sure last winter had terrific options from Red Wing, Sperry Topsider x Band of Outsiders and Timberland Boot Company Brown Counterpane Lace-Up Boot, but we’re already starting to see some mean options from Soph, Wings+Horns and a brand we admittedly normally don’t keep up to date with, Manhattan-based Bergdorf Goodman. Yes, the store. Bergdorf’s men’s fashion director Tommy Fazio has been making some big plays, its men’s shoe department back in-house and expanding the store’s private label. The Austrian snow boot from Bergdorf Goodman Collection does this rugged boot in a dark, rich brown with bright red laces making it perfect with selvedge denim as much as it paired with your pants tucked into them to keep them salt free. More details to come. Available here.
