With everybody on the road with a fixed gear bike of their own, um, thank you Urban Outfitters X Republic, it’s great to see shops being true to the sport without compromising on style or technology. Kyoto-based Funriki, which launched in December, started merely as a bike shop for professional cyclists but has since grown into a premier destination for the customizable fixie-market using the same professional grade building principals. Like most in the industry, Funriki starts with a basic model whose wheels, chain, frame, saddle, pedals, and fame can be configured by the rider however, unlike most, they offer many high quality Funriki-made upgrades such as leather saddles and even, a handmade steel frame. Currently only available in Japan…making them now even more desirable.
