Everybody is doing a collaboration these days, us included, but here’s one we never would have imagined – Erykah Badu teaming with Kiehl’s for a limited edition body lotion! Yes. Limited. Edition. Body lotion. Aside from the artwork on the packaging (slightly reminscent of the artwork on her album, New AMERYKAH), we love how a company like Kiehl’s can open itself up to a collaboration and have the fortitude to launch a limited edition product. There is a righteousness to all of this, 100% of proceeds up to $100,000 will support waterkeeper alliance. So, um, are we supposed to collect these? Are we supposed to buy them up and sell them on eBay long after the expiry date? Personally, I would like to see Santogold do a collab on a hot sandwhich and call it – The Unstoppable.

We brought you this story about STPL x Airwalk last week and now we can show you a different version in sync with the release of the Star Trek movie tomorrow. Staple used the Enterprise as his inspiration and applied it to his Terrain sneaker model. Staple explains his STPL x Airwalk x Star Trek collab:

“Airwalk? Spacewalk? Star Trek? There could be something here…And if you check out the Star Trek “Shield” logo and the Airwalk “A” logo, it’s like they were born form the same mother…After seeing some advance clips from the upcoming film, I thought, what would The Terrain look like if it were finished just like a battle-torn version of The Enterprise?”

I can’t wear shorts because I have Ostrich-shaped legs, but that doesn’t mean I let my Circus-side-show stop me from appreciating shorts for those that can wear them. I found these shorts over at PHENOMENON and I think they’re really fresh. Yes, they’re part shirt, part shorts, that’s the brilliance of them. Actually, I like them so much, I’m thinking about getting some Forrest Gump-caliber leg braces to correct myself. The other colors (after the jump) miss the mark for me, I would have loved to see more versions of a straight up khaki short with different ‘shirt’ patterns.

Some food for thought today: We all know Porter kills it in the luggage and accessories game, but when they branch out and do collabs, do you feel it dilutes the core of what they’re already known for, or does it further add to their credibility? Case in point, this collaboration with surf brand Quicksilver. Does it add credibility to Quicksilver while diminishing Porter’s status, or vice versa? This is the kind of stuff that keeps me up at night.

For the first time, Quiksilver invites Takashi Kumagai of Porter fame, to do a capsule collection including jackets, Bermuda shorts, polos and bags. The collection is inspired by the 70s and 80s along with Quicksilver’s surfing heritage. Available exlusively at colette.

I’ve been thinking about getting these Gucci slip-on’s for a long time. I love the black on black Gucci monogrammed print with hints of green and red.  Even though I prefer my sneakers to be relatively low key, these moderately priced options that are made in Italy, remind me of upscale versions of my favorite pair of Van’s slip-on’s. Part of the Levi’s Engineered 10th Anniversary collection, the tee is a collaboration between Levi’s and Wilfird Wood. Wilfrid has contributed some original artwork for the front of this t-shirt, creating a gang of three, slightly twisted individuals. they are known as The Twisted Individuals’.  I might have to get this just because the guy on the far right is channeling Nacho Libre. Some say that steel frames aren’t really the look at the moment, but I still really dig the FLASH collection from Mykita. The specs come in three different aviator frames, Rolf, Hector and Elliot and each in 3 different colors.
