REBRANDING AMERICA: PAPER MAGAZINE

When you have an image problem, you hire a publicist. America has an image problem, Paper Magazine, hired them a publicist. This right here, is the power of a good idea. As Paper explains, “Right now America is like a company teetering on bankruptcy — we have lost so much credibility and brand currency over the past eight years. And so we invited some of the best visual communicators we know (from ad gurus to artists) to create original advertising concepts that could redefine our country’s image. Welcome to U.S.A. 2.0.”  People such as Alex Bogusky (the man behind Subservient Chicken and Whopper Freakout, amongst others), Dan Weiden (the man behind W+K and Nike ads), Andy Spade (co-founder of Jack and Kate Spade) and Shepard Fairey, they were all asked “HOW WOULD YOU REBRAND AMERICA?” They came back with a print campaign.

Check out all the work here.

Man, I’m so annoyed I missed out on getting one of these Che Trooper Busts from UrbanMedium, they just hit the market and they’re gone already. Out of the 500 made 400 sold out within 24 hours with no word what happened to the 100, we’re hoping various retailers globally, so there is a chance we still snag one!

Pinel & Pinel – Kibako

Pinel & Pinel has released some crazy trunks in the past, the ski luggage comes to mind, but that definitely served a purpose for the avid, if not slightly eccentric, skiier. Now we are presented with something they call “The Green Trunk”, which is everything you need to keep and maintain bonsai. In leather and wood, including fine tools and a horticultural growing light, this is sure to be a dream come true for a few green thumbs around the world.

Their site doesn’t say, but this, like all of their pieces, is sure to be limited, check out more pictures after their jump, or hit their site for luggage you laugh at the idea of, until you see it all wrapped in fine leather and nickel hardware.

Creating fine hats in Milan since 1837, Borsalino had since expanded to create a whole line of accesories. There helmets are of particular note as they are simple, refined and made with the best materials, which is something we certainly appreciate. They also still create mens and ladies hats, a line of menswear, watches, perfume and even bikes. Definitely a company to check out, if you prefer the look of yesteryear.

If you’re like me, there are just not enough hours in the day to get it all done. So the Just a Moment Clock by Reddish studio could give me or you a new way to look at time everyday. Its a cross between analog and digital representations of time. Each time component is separated giving the appearance that hours, minutes and seconds are all different time zones. The result is just cool.
