Nike ACG Steel City Back Pack

Nike ACG Steel City Back Pack

I’ve never been a really big believer in Nike ACG’s ability to withstand the elements they were supposedly designed for (Suede on a backpack for the outdoors?). I just felt the cringe of a few guys in the office with ACG backpacks who stand by them. However, that’s not to say they don’t make some nicely designed bags for everyday life. The new Steel City Back pack is durable, stylish, and functional with a heavyweight nylon outer with a  fully lined inside. Two colorways are available, black/orange and red/black. Pre-order it here.

3:33 black leather lo-top sneaker

3:33 black leather lo-top sneaker

I’ve been looking for a new low profile sneaker for the summer that’s a little bit dressier than a canvas Ked’s model. I just can’t keep canvas clean on my feet. I came across these sneakers from 3:33 at OAK NYC and I think I’ve found a winner. The slight gloss of the black leather gives it a more formal look and best of all, they’ll stay looking newer, longer with a quick wipe down or polish every now and again. Available here.

vox_volvo_p1800_3

Swedish designer Mattias Vöcks who’s better known for hand-assembling Koenigsegg supercars has recently unveiled his new project, a completely redesigned version of the classic Volvo P1800 (better known as the car Roger Moore drove in the British Television series The Saint back in the 1960s). Vöcks has put a 4.4 liter turbocharged V8 from a XC90 SUV under the hood pumping a massive 600 horses to the rear wheels. Production has yet to start but I can’t wait to see one live.

Takashi Murakami sent Pharrell Williams pictures of his new painting that he has been working on for the last 5 years. As you can see all the pieces have been blurred out, but check out the scale of the first piece and it also looks like Murakami isn’t shying away from colors yet! This will be exhibited in Venice for the Palazzo Grassi Punta della Dogana exhibition on  June 6th. Pharrell is also apparently working on a collaboration piece with the artist, which we should have more news on soon.

dita

The Dita Gold Series features both authentic 24K gold plated titanium frames with authentic 24K gold custom developed mirrored lenses. Dita has created these lenses by using a new technology that takes the precious metal and compresses it between two lenses preventing the common problem of scratched or flaking mirrored lenses. The two fused lenses prevent the gold mirror from being rubbed or scratched; creating a lens that will not lose its luster.

Heel Bruise is the new venture from Roby Jeffers, Richard Mulder and Thomas Yu who were instrumental in the beginning stages of Nike SB: Richard was the first team rider, Roby lead the charge on behalf of Sandy Bodecker and Nike and laid the foundation for what turned into a true phenomenon in sneaker and skate culture. Here’s a peak at what they have in store for you soon in such fine establishments as Supreme, HUF, BTNC, and Barracuda.

Thanks for the heads up on this Nick!

Nike Trainer 1 Summit

nike_trainer1_launch

As we mentioned, we weren’t able to make it to Newport Beach for the Trainer 1 summit the other day, but luckily our boy Nick from SlamX was there to cover the story. Looking at some of the pictures he took, we can right away see that Nike released a few other colorways along with the white/grey/neon we already showed you, Nick tells me that most of these are player exclusives but that white/grey/blue is a general release as well.

On hand at the event they had a few big names to promote the shoe, names such as Arizona Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald, the Pittsburg Steelers’ Troy Polamalu, the Phoenix Suns’ Amare Stoudemire, Olympic decathlete Bryan Clay, the Portland Trailblazers’ Brandon Roy, and the Minnesota Vikings’ Adrian Peterson. The athletes discussed their training regimens and the benefits of the new shoe to them, they then took to the field to demonstrate just that.

We hope to have a hands on review of these shoes shortly, but until then hopefully the rest of the pictures will keep you happy.

Your Reebok - iPhone App

This is just really embarassing Nike ID or adicolor didn’t come up with this idea first – an iPhone application that let’s you design custom Reebok sneakers anywhere. Your Reebok allows you to customize the Reebok Freestyle, Classic leather or Ventilator directly on your iPhone, which will then be delivered to your home in a few weeks time. There are 20 different customizable areas, the option to add text (please don’t think it’s an original idea to have the same ‘original’ idea of putting your name on them) and choice of premium materials. More info here.

Quicksilver x Porter Bag Collection

Quicksilver x Porter Bag Collection

We brought you the story of the capsule collection from Quicksilver x Porter earlier this month and can now show you some accessories in the form of a duffle and backpack. Again, we’re seeing a lot of the 70s and 80s surfing spirit inspiration from Quicksilver integrated within the Porter bags. There’s a fine balance between the usual understated style of Porter’s accessories which they’ve managed to keep relatively intact, while still throwing in some hits of bright colors normally seen in surf wear. I’m generally not a fan of small duffle bags, I like my bags to have a little bit of structure and can’t stand it when everything I own bunches in the middle when I throw it over my shoulder. The interiors however, remind me of how Paul Smith playfully introduces hidden flashes of color. Available here.
