Oakley has been on their throwback game for a while now and although we don’t see Sweeps making their way back into the mainstream anytime soon, Oakley has enjoyed a great deal of success from their original 80′s release – the Frogskin. Chances are, you likely have a few VHS tapes lying around your house you just can’t part with even though you haven’t owned a VCR in the last 5 years. Let me guess: Speed, Groundhog Day and at least one Chevy Chase movie. Am I close? I for one, have a few vinyl’s kicking around that I can’t part with: Tribe Called Quest’s Midnight Marauders and Mos Def’s Black on Both Sides. I haven’t owned a turntable since OJ Simpson was innocent, but German brand Montegiro, is making me want to sell every piece of audio equipment I own to be able to afford the LEGNO model (about $13K). Following our previous story this week when we saw the Kanye West + Louis Vuitton collaboration shoe in action in LA. This has just been released on his blog: “TIME TO CRASH YOUR INTERNET SERVER…. HERE’S 1 OF THE 6 DESIGN’S I DID FOR LOUIE… SAMPLED IN WHITE”. Looks like a more casual version of the white boater’s I always see on old folks in West Palm Beach.

I rarely get in on the NIKE posts on LH, but I’m getting into this one for nostalgia purposes. These ‘new releases’ of the original Air Pegasus from ’89 were the FIRST pair of Nike’s I ever owned. I was 8, and I copped them on a trip to Hong Kong. Yes, even back then my kicks were imported! To this day, I still remember my first experience of putting my foot into a Nike shoe. Everything about it, the fit, the feel, the colours, the shape, everything is still memorable.
I eventually made my way back home across the Pacific at summer’s end and showed them off to all my friends on the first day of school. I was treated like royalty. On the first day alone, I got two different kinds of cookies, rainbow chocolate chip from a pretty girl and oatmeal chocolate chip from the resident bully. I had it good. On top of that, I kicked ass in dodgeball that year (I swore it was the shoes that gave me my athletic ability). These aren’t the flashiest, rarest, killer collab, whatever, Nike has ever released, but for me, they will always be the greatest pair of shoes I’ve ever owned. Available here.
