The year was 1989. Madonna gave Sean Penn the boot, Milli Vanilli was at the top of their game (admit it, you were a fan), George Bush was on TV holding a bag of rock and Michael Jackson still kinda looked like Michael Jackson. Yup, those were the days…
So what says ’89 more than kicking it with a pair of LA Gears on your feet? Nothing, except maybe sitting in your parents basement playing Nintendo until 3 in the am.
A while ago, we told you LA Gear was back, now it’s official. The “Fire” sneakers, L.A. Gear’s most iconic shoe for men, have been reproduced stitch-by-stitch. The limited edition first run of sneakers is only available at Sportie LA. From the packaging to the license plate tag, these kicks rep ’89 like Tone Loc’s “Wild Thing”. Wonder if Paula Abdul is getting back in it too…
LH Exclusive: LA Gear is working on some “new” reproductions of their favorite popular models, including Light Gears. “Straight up now tell me do you really want to love me forever oh oh oh…”
